Our Beginnings:

Here is a brief history of our church:

  • Christ Presbyterian Church began in January 1990 in the Gardnerville-Minden area of Nevada, when a small group realized the real need for a Presbyterian fellowship in the Carson Valley.

  • We began by holding Bible studies in area homes.  After Presbytery recognized the fellowship in September 1990, we  began holding regular Sunday afternoon services at Coventry Cross Episcopal Church.

  • Later, our growing congregation began meeting in Douglas High School, and then in The Record-Courier building.

  • In May 1996, the congregation was officially chartered by the Nevada Presbytery as a new Presbyterian church.

  • In June of 2007, the Rev. Bill Baltz became our new pastor.  He and his wife, Pann, moved to Gardnerville from Southern California to begin his ministry at CPC.

  • Pastor Bill feels called by God to lead our church into an era of growth and change as the congregation seeks God’s purpose in our community and around the world.

Our Mission:

Christ Presbyterian Church focuses on a Bible-centered personal faith in Jesus Christ; shares the Christian faith in the community through participation in community and church-based programs, and strives to allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives.
